CHARISMA Raman School 2024 @ ICORS XXVIII

Join us this summer in Rome to create a vibrant space for sharing the latest breakthroughs and ideas in Raman-related research

2024-02_CHARISMA_Raman_School-1

Raman School 2024 focuses on the relevance, impact, needs, state-of-the-art of harmonisation in different techniques and fields of application.

School Topics

  • Fundamentals of Raman spectroscopy: setting up a Raman correctly, parameters that affect your data, best practices
  • Raman techniques: how to select the adequate technique, what you need for each technique and how and use them correctly
  • Data processing and analysis: correction on Raman spectra, how to apply data science
  • Raman harmonisation and standards
  • In vivo, in situ and operando Raman characterisation
  • Applications of Raman spectroscopy and market opportunities
  • Raman data repositories and FAIR data

Updates from CHARISMA Work Packages

WP3

WP3 — Harmonised Raman spectra

In collaboration with WP7, WP3 is currently finalising preparations for the Round Robin 2 while also focusing on discussions regarding presentation content for ICORS 2024 where CHARISMA will hold its second Raman School as well.

Learn more about our WP3 here.

WP6

WP6 — Demonstrators for Raman harmonisation

Encapsulae has formulated functional antimicrobial coatings based on the additive AS020P for application in polymeric food contact films. Thus, it has applied the coatings according to the migration regulation on polyethylene films. The antimicrobial functional properties have been studied in vitro achieving optimal results, which encourages in vivo testing. Raman spectroscopy is being used to study the arrangement of the coating (thickness, distribution of components,
arrangement of phases) as well as the presence of the AS020P additive and the form in which it is found according to the degree of hydration.

WP7

WP7 — Standardisation activities

WP7 (led by UNE) conducted the CEN Workshop to develop a CWA (CEN Workshop Agreement) for ā€˜Raman devices calibration, verification and twinning protocols on 28 February 2024 (also see below for more information). The expected date of publication for the two CWAs are considered to be around September 2024 after the consensus process.

CEN Workshop on ā€œRaman devices calibration, verification and twinning protocolsā€

Led by UNE and CHARISMA, manufacturers, users, and researchers in Raman spectroscopy from both European and international backgrounds convened for the inaugural meeting of the CEN Workshop ā€œRaman devices calibration, verification and twinning protocolsā€ on 28 February 2024.
