This is the fourth project newsletter and IMPROVE is already half through its planned project time. That also means we have taken important steps in the project already: Our chatbot, AinoAid™, is now ready for testing and there is a new module to be discovered on our training platform. Beyond that, we held a webinar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and domestic violence, have had further exhibitions presenting our version of the Clothesline Project, written blog articles and much more… Discover IMPROVE’s work now!
Our chatbot is ready for testing!
AinoAid™ was launched in Finland!
At our consortium’s meeting in Helsinki on 23 April, we had a full house and intriguing guest speakers at "Innovation Home Kamppi". Detective senior sergeant Sara Parpala gave a speech about the police’s point of view on domestic violence cases and cynicism, and Loihde’s Tuomas Lahtinen unlocked what is secure and responsible AI and how it is implemented in AinoAid™.
AinoAid™ will be next launched in Germany. But in the meanwhile you can test how well AinoAid™ works in Finland’s context. After the launch it has already had nearly 1000 users!
Also check our webinar ⬇ to see the chatbot in action.
The IMPROVE project seeks collaboration with professionals. If you are interested in our work, eager to learn more and want to get more involved we invite you to become an IMPROVE stakeholder! Among other things we will invite you to participate in workshops about research on domestic violence and training of first responders. Join the fight against domestic violence!
PS: If you receive the newsletter, you are not automatically a stakeholder. Stakeholders will be involved in more project activities.
From 23–24 April, 2024 the IMPROVE project experts met in Helsinki, Finland for the Consortium Meeting for an interesting exchange and insightful discussion!
→ Video IMPROVE Webinar “Breaking barriers: How can AI support victims of domestic violence?”
Get ready to break barriers with the IMPROVE webinar. Watch the recorded video now and learn about domestic violence and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this context you will get the opportunity to learn more about the AinoAid™ and see its application and benefits in action. Additionally, ethical and legal aspects of the use of AI tools for preventing domestic violence are discussed.
Our online training platform has a new module on self-care! We are pleased to introduce Module 9 focusing on self-care for our four stakeholder groups: Police, Health sector, Social sector, and Legal sector. This module emphasises the importance of prioritising professionals’ well-being alongside victim care. It addresses the challenges faced by frontline responders dealing with domestic violence, provides comprehensive insights into managing stress, emotional strain, and how to avoid burnout or trauma. While exploring boundaries within interpersonal and organisational contexts, it equips professionals with practical coping strategies. Empower yourself to handle difficult situations while keeping self-care a priority. Dive into Module 9 now!
We have had a project internal workshop with our sister project ISEDA. Our project members were shown how ISEDA uses so-called “serious games” which simulate domestic abuse victim interaction in a virtual format, to train police officers in the interview process and reading body language (more).
→ 👕 New Clothesline Project exhibitions
Our "Clotheslines Project" campaign is an initiative inspired by our work on survivor interviews as part of our broader efforts addressing the issue of domestic violence. Since its initiation in October 2023, the campaign has been visited by many, among others, Consuelo Berges Association of Separated and Divorced Women of Santander who came to see it in Bilbao, organised by ASKABIDE and DEUSTO. Then, the exhibition switched countries and travelled to Finland, where it was first shown at THL and then POLAMK.
Our partner We Encourage joined forces with Sinako Coaching, a company owned by Minna Pietarinen and Peppi Stünkel which is offering consulting and creative coaching. Their non-profit organisation Sinako Interaction Art’s exhibition “I was born a girl” presents Minna’s peer-supporting art and poetry about women’s and girls’ rights around the world. They lend their influential art piece for a joint sticker campaign to spread awareness about non-violence, hope, future of equity and of course AinoAid™. Stickers are just the start for this collaboration so stay tuned…
